Keep reading to learn more about his story—and discover how you can follow his journey as he continues to create and inspire.

Genre:

His production style is rooted in boom bap. He blends the grit and rhythm of classic hip-hop with the smooth, melodic textures of neo-soul, layered with subtle influences of trap. The result his sound is both nostalgic and contemporary.

Insparation:

His inspiration is deeply rooted in the melodic and rhythmically rich sounds of the church. As a producer, Reginald draws influence from a wide range of genres, thanks to an eclectic musical appetite. His creative palette spans from gospel legends like The Rance Allen Group to the soulful elegance of Anita Baker, the raw energy of Guns N' Roses, and the timeless grit of Amy Winehouse—each shaping his sound in unique and meaningful ways.

His Craft:

He defines himself as a producer creating beats that move the head, inspire thought, and stir the soul. His craft is rooted in intentionality—each beat is designed to evoke emotion, spark reflection, and connect listeners to something deeper. Whether it’s the knock of the snare or the warmth of a melody, he aims to create music that resonates beyond the surface.

His Start:

Reginald C. Beats started making beats with his longtime friend Rick back in the early 90’s, who had just purchased an MPC and began teaching him the basics. That early hands-on experience lit a spark in Reginald. Eventually, he invested in his own equipment and started producing independently. Reginald later moved to Atlanta, where he spent 20 years immersed in the city’s vibrant music scene. Collaborating with local producers and artists helped him refine his craft and elevate his sound.

While Reginald wishes that were the end of the story, life took a different turn. In 2007, he sold his equipment and stopped making music completely. From 2007 to 2022, he didn’t create a single beat. Then, in 2022, Reginald lost his mother—and in the midst of that grief, he found himself turning back to music, this time as a way to cope and pass the time. He's currently in the process of knocking off the dust and rebuilding his rhythm and rediscovering the passion that’s always been there.
